ARIES
This project redefines the relationship between humans and cats through an interactive chair that turns everyday seating into a shared, performative experience. Moving beyond simple nesting, the design explores multiple ways for cats and humans to interact, with the ram-horn form offering elevated paths and playful opportunities.
Inspired by ARIES’ spiraling curves, the chair features a horn-like geometry symbolizing strength, renewal, and coexistence. Wood provides warmth and craftsmanship, while high-density steel tubes in the “mouth” keep the center of gravity low, ensuring stability even during active cat movement. Intertwined jute surfaces encourage tactile interaction and allow users to customize weaving, fostering playful engagement with cats.
The design translates ARIES’ 2D diagram into architectural elements: “horns” for cat exploration, “mouth” for human seating, and “fur” as woven, tactile surfaces. Through assembly and daily use, the chair becomes a dynamic, participatory structure embodying balance, curiosity, and coexistence.
